Question about Grundig system

Dear Massimo,
I stumbled upon your website not long ago. First of all, thanks for the endless source of great information. You are truly an inspiration. Your contribution to Grundig lovers is magnificent, so I thank you and congratulate you. My story about Grundig happened by accident. I was ready to buy  some studio monitors but I was unhappy with how they sounded when I tried them in the music stores. A lot to be desired…
Then I discovered the Grundig in one cosmetic shop where the owner had a Box 850 pro accompanied by some nice Yamaha amp (ct710- or something, not sure). I was amazed by the sound and I clearly recalled that my thought was I had never heard such a natural sound before, almost like the band was in front of me. I asked the owner about the equipment and then I heard the name Grundig for the first time.
At the moment I have a few boxes which I tracked recently. 450 pro, 650, 650 pro, and aktiv 20.
Aktiv 20 is my favourite and truly remarkable speaker. I also have a v7150 amp and a R35 receiver, and original speaker cables.
I listen to the music through myFostex HP-A4 DAC connected to my PC. The result with aktiv 20 is amazing, so natural and full of harmonics!
The question is: how do I connect the DAC to R35?  DAC has RCA output and the R35 receiver only has 5pin input. I want to make a cable but I don’t know the wiring scheme.
Can you please help me with that? Can I buy 5pin din to two male RCA from a hardware store? Am I in danger of frying something if it’s not connected right? Is 2 vrms coming from the DAC too much for the receiver? Do I need to attenuate it with the resistors? Is the tape input better than the CD input in V7150? Thank you for your time. It would be a great pleasure and honor to meet you someday!
You inspired many people, that’s really something special!
Best regards!!

Hello Filip
Thanks for the congratulations.
You can buy a din-rca cable with the characteristics indicated on my website, this type could be fine (if the cable for sale matches the photo):

Then simply connect your dac to a high level input on the receiver or the V1750. On all Grundig the best solution I have found is to enter the monitor input, select this input while leaving the “phono” button pressed.
If you happen to come on holiday to Italy in the future, I invite you to come and listen to the aktiv 20 mod CCI compared to your standard ones.
It is the only Grundig product that I personally modify as they have only partially expressed potential due to regulatory problems.
Best Regards
Massimo

Thank you very much for your kind and fast answer. Thank you for your invitation. If I happen to be in Italy, I will contact you. It would be a great pleasure to meet you.
I am very curious to hear how my aktiv 20 can sound in full potential. At the moment, I am trying to make the passive Grundig system work with boxes 450 pro and 650 pro and r35. I will search for the cable you mentioned or I will go to the local audio technician (very good) to make a custom DIN 5 RCA cable. I wanted to ask you one more thing. I acquired original Grundig speaker cables in beige color together with box 650 (on the attached photo). Are they good? I heard that the black one is more rigid and better.  The length is around 3.8m, definitely not 4m. I am asking because I also happen to have a box 150b which has original black cable which I might want to cut and use with the better speakers. Do you think I will get better results?
I tried to put the carpet in front of the speaker, and yes, it sounded better, warmer. Great advice from your website! I also noticed that my 650 pro sounds more clear and hifi compared to 650. It’s a pity because they are in mint condition…
How about the LT amps, are you selling? I might be interested. Do you think the results are better than with r35?
Btw, are you interested in the sound of instruments? Did you apply your knowledge to the instrument’s production? I am asking because I am a guitarist and I noticed how the higher harmonics always disappear in bad instruments (I think they cancel each other due to elasticity of the wood). It would be very interesting to hear your opinion about the topic. Many high end guitars don’t  sound so good…
Warm regards from Serbia!!
Filip

Hi Filip
The cable in photo is good, I don’t advice to cut the box 150b cable.
The LT amps benefit of thirty years of development work, I cannot tell you, being a party to the dispute, how they sound but I can let you hear the difference compared to your (however very good) R35.

>noticed how the higher harmonics always disappear in bad instruments (I think they cancel each other due to elasticity of the wood)

Yes, thickness and hardness of the wood used, vary the timbre of the instrument. Any cabinetmaker is well aware of this.
