Advice

Hi Massimo,
I’ve been looking to buy a BBC Ls3/5a for a few months now even though I own a Grundig 650 Prof. I wonder if you’ve had a chance to compare these designs. In your opinion, is it sensible to spend around €1000 or can the Grundigs provide an equally good musical experience? The size of the listening room is about 15m2. I would like to add that I am currently using a NAD 3020 series 20 and the next step will be to buy a turntable: Thorens TD150 or The AR Turntable. I would appreciate your opinion,
Paul xxxxxxxx

Dear Paul the only Rogers that I recommend are the LS3/5a 15ohm of old production (before 1984) and unfortunately they can be found from 2000 to 5000 (or more for the first models) euros…a couple of 650 professional must be installed on the shelf ( not on pedestal) and in these conditions they have nothing to envy to the LS3/5a (indeed…). Personally I have the LS3/5a 15ohm “gold badge” (now priced around 5000 euros) and it’s the cabinet I like the most AFTER some Grundigs. The 650 profs only need to have an amplification and a full CCI source to express themselves… what I recommend is to change the amplification with a Grundig integrated one of those mentioned in the Grundig Story of my site and a Grundig PS1020 turntable.. .but above all I advise you to read my website carefully…
